Terminology: "Denizen" (definition)

"Citizen" (German: "Bürger") refers to the identity given to you by the nation state, as in your passport or national id card, which CAN be cancelled/restricted by the authorities. It is not really "yours" as in "controlled by you", but for you to use under certain conditions.

In our context, "Denizen" offers a potential reference to your own, real, independent persona; your "real" identity as proven by your body, protected by your human/natural rights, which can NOT/NEVER be removed, cancelled or restricted by anyone.

Secondly, in "real life", we all have various "roles" or "contexts" where we are known to the other participants with often only parts of our real/full identities. For example; your co-students know you as a student, perhaps also on the sports ground or the like, and at work, your co-workers know you in that context, but not necessarily how you are as a student, or personally. If you have children, the parents of your children's friends know you as a parent, but not necessarily anything about how you are as a student, worker, or personally. This is all natural, normal consequences of being part of society. Reputation-wise, you have more than "one hat", and therefore more than one "reputation". Optimistic & Realistic perspective..(!)

The world is changing, BUT not all changes or challenges are negative, bad, or out of our control. This does not mean easy or risk-free, but at least possible.

Within a relatively "small" "window of opportunity, we now have the (only?) real chance of ensuring that "the democracy project" can be finished with real, democratic outcome.

Ready elements that makes this possible..:

EU standard for Digital identity
German EID (based on the EU digital ID standard)
Constitution in place, addressing a) Corruption as "something bad" (to fight against), and b) Transparency as the main antidote to Corruption.
Technology for automation and data analysis/presentation assistance have matured (A.I.), and now we just need to ensure that it does not "turn against us" or can be manipulated to such an extent. For that, we simply declare in our constitution that only fully transparent solutions are allowed.
"Coincidentally", this is also what the worlds' scientific community said would be "our only hope for a safer future", in a joint statement after the Berlin wall came down in 1989.

Open social media platforms such as: ActivityPub/Fediverse (Mastodon, Hubzilla, Friendica, Peertube, Bluesky, etc.), Matrix, NextCloud, OwnCloud, and more.

Content Management systems with flexible moderation features.

Knowledge and experience with various moderation schemes.

Lacking, however, (generally speaking) education in how to behave properly in social media and discuss in structured and constructive ways. We need to train a new A.I. assistant to help us with this, and we have such platforms ready to use now. This is partially what Denizen.zone will contribute to.

For these things to be handled, we need to crowdfund the Denizen.zone/initiative/ ...
